Confirmation

8th-10th Grade

Confirmation is a collection of experiences for the head, heart, and hands of students to dive deeper into a living faith in Jesus Christ. Using a combination of large group lessons and small group gatherings, students in 8th and 9th grade participate in weekly Confirmation from September through April. 8th Graders focus primarily on Scripture—exploring what the Bible has to say about daily life. 9th Graders focus on Martin Luther’s teachings in the Small Catechism—discovering ways the 10 Commandments, the Apostle’s Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion connect with modern-day living. During the fall of their 10th grade year, students focus on the baptismal promises in preparation for the Rite of Confirmation—centering on how to live in Christian community and ways to serve their neighbor.

Confirmation ministries also depend on numerous adults to serve as both small group guides and faith mentors. While Confirmation is faith-formation, it also includes relationship building. All adults must complete a background check and be trained.
